My Story
Growing up with one twin sister, two older sisters, and wonderful parents, I received all of the love, support, and guidance that one wishes for during childhood. I always admired my older sisters' devotion to their sports, their dedication to their school work, and I hoped that I would grow up to be just as hard-working and accomplished as they were. Since both of my parents are teachers, my sisters and I have grown up understanding the principle of school as well as the importance of being motivated. Although I have faced many challenges as a student, I overcome these challenges by acknowledging my hard work ethic and remembering I can only ever do my best. As a result, I strive to create admirable work in order to achieve success and make myself, my teachers, and my parents proud.
Sports have also been incredibly important to me. I started playing soccer when I was a kindergartner and have dedicated a huge portion of my life to the sport. I had the privilege of being named captain of both my high school's varsity soccer team and volleyball team during my senior year, and I can easily say that these months were the happiest of my entire high school career. Playing sports also taught me how to successfully balance school work and extracurricular activities.
Transitioning into college came with many uncertainties. I was nervous about being away from home, I did not know how easily I would adapt to my new environment, and I was not used to the amount of independence I had been granted. Looking back on my freshman year, I will always cherish the "realness" of everything that occurred. Although it came with its challenges, I made some amazing friends and enjoyed wonderful experiences. I am extremely fortunate to have gotten nearly a year's worth of the "normal" college experience before COVID-19 impacted the world. Adapting to a fully online college schedule during my sophomore year was incredibly overwhelming. Although it took several weeks for me to become comfortable with the aspects of an online semester, I am proud of my devotion to my classes while balancing work life.
As a junior in college, a majority of my classes are aimed towards my major. Recently, I have been learning about market research, digital marketing, consumer behavior, consultative selling, and the basics of supply chain management. All of these topics will aid me in my future careers as a women in business. This summer, I will be stepping into my first corporate position as a Digital Marketing Intern at United Wholesale Mortgage. This internship, followed by my senior year of college, will provide me with the experience, knowledge, and resources needed to prepare me for a bright career in business. Wish me luck and go green!
